APTIV film offers the performance properties of VICTREX PEEK polymer in a film format to meet these challenges. Benefits include; light weight (lower specific gravity and thickness), miniaturization, longevity, durability and toughness and streamlined processing to reduce overall systems cost, eco-friendly and recyclable.

Victrex APTIV film has High Heat Resistance

APTIV Film has a UL RTI rating of 220°C (428°F) for mechanical use without impact and 200°C (392°F) for electrical use for 25 – 125 micron films (1-5 mil), and is capable of withstanding lead free solder processing temperatures of up to 300°C.

Victrex APTIV film has Excellent Wear Properties

Inherently lubricious, APTIV film has a very smooth surface finish and low particulation. Lpv rating is 145 MPa-m/min (69,000 psi-ft/min) without the presence of lubricants.

Victrex APTIV film has a Broad Chemical Resistance

Insoluble in all common solvents, APTIV film has excellent resistance to acids, bases, oxidizing agents, hydrocarbons, salts, and steam. Superior chemical resistance than many exotic metals. Properties unaffected by exposure to steam at 200°C (392°F) after 2,000 hours.

Victrex APTIV film has Low Moisture Absorption

APTIV film resists moisture that can adversely affect electrical and dimensional properties.

Victrex APTIV film has High Strength and Toughness

APTIV Film has the highest stiffness and resistance to cyclic fatigue of any thermoplastic. Strength is maintained well over the glass transition temperature (Tg). Excellent tear strength, puncture resistance and acoustic properties.

Victrex APTIV film has Electrical Stability

APTIV Film has very stable electrical properties over a wide range of temperatures, frequencies and humidities.

Victrex APTIV film has Radiation Resistance

APTIV Film withstands over 10 9 rads exposure without embrittlement.

Victrex APTIV film has Low Smoke and Toxic Gas Emission

APTIV PEEK film has good flammability without the use of flame retardants, low toxicity of combustion gases. Inherently halogen free in accordance with IEC 61249-2-21.

Victrex APTIV film Purity

APTIV Film is exceptionally low outgassing and extractable qualities.

Victrex APTIV film is FDA food contact and Dairy 3A certified

APTIV film grades 1000, 1100, 2000 and 2100 may be safely used for repeated food contact. They comply with the compositional requirements of FDA 21 CFR 177.2415, Commission Directive 1935/2004/EC and Commission Directive 2002/72/EC, and the amendments up to 2005/79/EC.

Victrex APTIV film has excellent barrier properties

APTIV film provides an effective barrier against many liquids and gases.

Why use APTIV film?

  • APTIV films are available in a thickness range from 6 - 750 microns and have a thickness tolerance of better than +/-7%, delivering an unsurpassed level of design flexibility that makes them the ideal solution to reduce systems cost, improve performance, and offer design freedom to enhance product differentiation.
  • Legislative changes, including the move to lead-free solder in electronics manufacturing, European and Japanese legislation on the use of halogen-free materials for circuit board manufacture, and the move towards use of materials which can be recycled are all key macro-economic drivers which make APTIV film well-placed to assist in solutions to meet these needs across industries around the world.
  • The drive by OEMs and their customers for smaller, lighter, yet more functional products across many industries has increased the demands placed on the materials used in the design and manufacture of the end product – lighter, tougher materials with excellent temperature resistance. APTIV film meets these key demands.
  • Unlike Polyimide film and PTFE film, APTIV film is a true thermoplastic material and is capable of being recycled and recovered, thus reducing waste while benefiting customers and the environment.
  • APTIV film will be manufactured by Victrex at its new facility, one of the most technologically advanced facilities for the production of high-performance polymer films. Co-located with the main Victrex facility in the UK and part of Victrex’s fully integrated supply chain, the new film line is dedicated to the production of APTIV film and has been designed to deliver the tightest tolerance, highest quality PEEK films available in the market.
  • The processability of APTIV film and its characteristics as a thermoplastic make it an ideal material for consideration for use in the production of light weight, tough new composite structures.
  • APTIV film is capable of being metallized, thermoformed, stamped and die cut, laser printed, welded and heat sealed, laminated to other materials (including metal with and without adhesives), and coated. This processing flexibility, in combination with the inherent physical properties of APTIV film, make APTIV film the material of choice for engineers.
