Victrex plc introduces VICOTE Coatings, a remarkable new product line that offers durability, scratch-resistance, and a host of high performance benefits that extend the life of the application it is used in.  VICOTE Coatings were invented to fill the performance gap found in many existing coating technologies today. The key ingredient of VICOTE Coatings is VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer, a linear, aromatic, semi-crystalline polymer widely regarded as one of the highest performing thermoplastics in the world -- also made by Victrex.

Tests have revealed that VICOTE Coatings have the potential to extend the life of applications by between 50% and 200% compared with fluoropolymer coatings due to its excellent combination of scratch, wear, heat, and chemical resistance.  This means less part replacement, more reliability, and durability. This is good news for coaters, manufacturers as well as consumers. 

VICOTE Coatings are resistant to chemicals such as salts, water/steam, alkalis, acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons.  They are dishwasher safe and FDA food contact approved. VICOTE Coatings also have great substrate adhesion, which negates the need for a primer step during the coating process. The ability to apply a VICOTE Coating without the need of a primer, and the ability to achieve very thin coatings all contribute to reductions in systems costs.

A VICOTE® Coating can be used as a stand-alone material or as a complimentary material to be used with other coatings, such as fluoropolymers. Customers are already finding success in many applications such as rice cookers, frying pans, food processing belts, and industrial parts.
